Pitching coach, Party Animals.
In 2024 I was the pitching coach for the Party Animals — Banana Ball, in front of sold-out stadiums, on a hip that was replaced when I was nineteen.
That June we played Fenway Park. I stood on that grass in a pink uniform with my name on the back, twenty years after a surgeon told me my playing days were done.
The Story
The hip was supposed to end it. It was just the beginning.
Legg-Calvé-Perthes took my hip at seven. By nineteen I had a total hip replacement — and every doctor's version of the future had me watching from the stands.
